❗️ATTENTION MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS ALIKE❗️
After reviewing our polls and asking/answering questions concerning who has and hasn’t been receiving the Guild newsletter and our email notifications, we’ve noticed a few things that we’d like to bring to your attention.
First to clarify, we have begun using a new bulk email service for MEMBERS. This means that the email comes from a different address than it used to. It doesn’t always come from Bud or newsletter editor, or the Secretary herself, but will come from our new email address which is CatskillFlyTyersGuild@gmail.com so please check your spam folders.
Emails are also not always titled, “Meeting notification” as there could be multiple things happening at one time which is why if you receive an email from us, please take a look at the content inside of it. We are going to be trying our best to give everyone a heads up on events that are going on about three months ahead of time so everyone can mark their calendars.
We also do not have “traditional meetings” every month anymore, and are tying to move away from the “meeting” setting. Instead we now opt for tying presentations, educational presentations and get togethers where members can still bring up discussions and where we can still discuss upcoming events, ect just as they always did; But which are now held a little differently than in the past.
Example: October was the first annual flyrod golf event, so instead of the traditional meeting everyone was used to, we swapped it for a fun day doing some “golf” casting and lunch. Notifications were sent out on paper as well as to all of current members on our email list. We also posted it here on Facebook.
And while we still discussed what was going on at the end of the day, it was not a meeting because there was no business to discuss as it was just a get together of members having a fun day.
This is why we want to make sure you (as a member) are receiving these updates aside from what we post on Facebook since Every month that we would normally hold the meeting, may not be given the title of a “meeting” anymore. Annual meetings and necessary quorums needed for voting are a different story and will be titled as so; but with all of the changes members had asked for, we are trying to oblige by changing up the way meetings were done in the past.
We have also been sending out multiple notices to members and While we’ve asked randomly who has received them and who hasn’t, we have noticed a few things:
Many of the people that hadn’t received the newsletter either weren’t current members or weren’t ever members at all.
❗️To clarify- “A current member with an email on file” does not mean a Facebook like or subscribing our blog. While that will give you some updates it’s not the same ❗️
➡️ A current member means you physically signed up with us- gave us your email address, phone number, mailing address and paid the $10 annual fee to become a MEMBER of the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild.
While we do our best to update social media about what is going on, and post fly patterns and event photos, it is not the same thing as being an actual member of the guild to where you will be getting different notifications and our email newsletters which are for members only.
If you know for certain you are a current member and have a questions about your membership/newsletters, If you aren’t sure about your membership, or if you want to find out how to become a member please feel free to message us here or send us an email at CatskillFlyTyersGuild@gmail.com and we will gladly take a look to clarify any issues.
The Secretary has personally been looking into any complaints to fix any issues that memebers may have, especially with email notifications now that we have a new bulk server- but she needs to be made aware of ALL issues in order to address them. This goes for ANY Guild related questions or issues. But please email her at CatskillFlyTyersGuild@gmail.com
This is why we highly recommend contacting us and letting us know if you are not receiving them so we can clarify any issues on your end or our own. -Thank you and we apologize for any inconvenience
